I can’t believe I haven’t posted a video of my favorite style of dance yet! I’ve heard it said that Balboa is a “dancer’s dance” meaning it’s much more enjoyable for dancers to watch than non-dancers. Or, it’s not your typical crowd pleaser. However, I’ve performed a crowd pleasing Bal routine (thanks to Russ at Swing Time!). I can be made into a crowd pleaser. But, my favorite thing about Balboa is its subtlety. A flick of the ankle can make all the difference. And a dance where a goal is to feel like you’re floating on air… how great is that.
The Rythmic Arts Festival is held in San Diego over New Year’s Eve, and is a high energy party celebrating American music and dance. I highly recommend experiencing it if you get the chance.
Thanks to Ryan for alerting me to this clip on his blog, Ryanware.

Nope. Pregant and poor prevents a lot of cool event.

Ah, I know how that goes. Well, the poor part from experience and the pregnant part from dancer friends.
