Here’s a closer look at some more links in the blog roll. I hope this helps you navigate through which sites you will be interested in. I will periodically post “closer looks” until I’ve covered all 100+ of them…
If you are an author on one of these blogs, I’d love for you add a little more about what your site is all about, or about yourself personally, in the comments. Thanks!
** I don’t know exactly how to describe AUNTS myspace blog to you. Parts of it read like you are participating in a work of performance art. Even experimental challenges are issued. Other articles are from Rolling Stone or about the history of a song like “My Humps.” In any case, it’s writing that will require your thinking mind and attention. I guess I would categorize it under experimental or modern dance?
* Summer Stages Dance has a great Behind-the-Scenes blog complete with photos and thoughts from directors, choreographers, and dancers. I especially enjoy “The Making of a Dance” articles.
* Bellydance: Experiences included album, DVD, and workshop reviews, but Natalia also includes many of her personal experiences, including a tutorial on how to use an Aloe Vera plant… always a staple when I grow up.
* “Bellydance Girl” takes you through her experiences as a beginner in her blog, Bellydancer’s Diary - from the beginning. Like a real diary, she gets personal about her own journey, complete with videos of her practice and weight loss before and after photos.
* Lorna (aka BellyLorna) lives in Cairo, Egypt and writes a bit more about that experience than Belly Dancing itself but of course it is interesting and adds a nice “whole picture” for her Belly Dance writings.
* Bill’s Blog is the personal blog of for Bill of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. He exposes his own performance experiences as well as life experiences.
** Dancer, Boris Willis, blogs on Boris Willis Moves is spending this Black History month sharing videos of himself dancing in front of historically important locations. He shares a little history, and shows his feelings on the matter through his movements. A new dance video every day… This man is dedicated!
** Bourgeon in a serious online magazine that fills it’s virtual pages with quality written content. In their own words, “The focus of the blog is being a shared space for artists to openly discuss their work so that we may all learn about them, and their work.” Many contributers write on topics ranging from technique to nudity.
* BSYTYCD is more of an informative (rather than fan swooning or bashing) blog for those who follow So You Think You Can Dance, and similar shows around the world.
* “NYC Tango Pilgrim” writes on Buenos Aires… where my tango journey begins. He mostly writes about his personal experiences, and like many tango bloggers, has much to say.

Thanks for the mention. It is not me who won a MacAuthur Genius Award but the people I worked for, Liz Lerman and Elizabeth Streb.

Thanks for linking. That’s a pretty good description of BSYTYCD. It’s about the talent, not the drama, and if we can learn a little about dance, so much the better.
Oh yeah, thanks for the Bill T. Jones link too. Didn’t know he had a blog.
